Felicia & Justin's Engagement Session

The first time I met Felicia was, was the first time I photographed her.  It was a little over a year ago.  She actually came into my studio bleeding!  After I freaked out, she told he her story.  She has a condition in which painful wounds appear all over her body, leaving behind scars.  It is the result of a severe chemical burn she endured as a result of cleaning the oven at her former work place.  She is a beautiful women, very soft spoken and calm.  Getting to know her is a breeze, as long as you ask.  I don't imagine she volunteers much information :).  After our first meeting, we kept in touch.  Not long after she started dating Justin.

I meet Justin for the first time, a few months ago during our consultation.  He is tall, handsome, very sweet and seemed a little quite himself....exactly the type of man I would hope for Felicia.  I asked a lot of questions about how they met, how he popped the question, their common interests.  He admittedly persued her, and eventually convinced her to go on a date.   She suggested a hike in Calvert Cliffs Park.  This was the spot of their first date, the proposal and the engagement session.

Christina & Daniel's Engagement Session

The first time I met with Christina and Daniel was to sit and discuss their October wedding.  They are a beautiful couple and seem very much in love.  Soon after our first meeting we met in Fell's Point Maryland to shoot their engagement session.  I love this place, the cobblestone streets-right on the water, make for a perfect setting.  They actually met and had their first date at The Horse You Came In On Saloon.

The Horse You Came In On Saloon

We decided to causally shoot as we walked around to explore.  The beautiful buildings were fully covered in ivy, with wrought iron gates, and large dome windows

We then strolled down the dock and tucked into parts of a building with huge metal doors  and windows.

I love a good mirror shot!

As we headed back to where we started we tucked into different spaced to capture intimate moments.

Wrapping up with where they first met.  After our session I had the opportunity to sit down and get to know them as a couple.  They told me all about their whirlwind romance and how they fell in love on the first date.  Congratulations Christina & Daniel!

Heather's Dreamy Maternity Session

I've known Heather for a while now, she's a sassy little thing with a heart as big as the ocean.  When I started my photography business she made is clear that she was not the girl to "spend good money" on photography nor was she the type to hang photos of herself all over the house.  You would think I should be a little offended by that, but no, I actually understand where she is coming from.  Before I became a photographer, I too GASP'd at the prices boutique photographers charged.

You can imagine my surprise when I was contacted by her husband Micheal about doing a maternity session for her.  He saw some recent work I had done and wanted that for his wife.   He too knew how Heather felt, but he wanted her to have the experience anyway.  It made me smile because it's hard to convince someone when they just have to experience it on their own.  So we made a plan, and convinced Heather to come shoot with their beautiful baby girl Annabelle.

I had envisioned Heather draped in flowing fabric walking the beach with sweet Annabelle by her side in a dreamy painterly portrait.  This was a moment just for Heather, to embrace her beauty and celebrate this moment in her pregnancy.

Maternity beach session

We walked to the beach at dusk, the weather was perfect.  Just the right amount of breeze blowing off of the bay. Our first "look" was a simple silk rope.  She looked so beautiful.

Playing in the off camera were Annabelle and daddy while Heather and I moved about our small semi-secluded beach section.  I don't recall hearing a peep from the little one :)

For the second look, I draped Heather in some Navy fabric and fassend  a silver belt to hold the fabric in place.  Then it was time to bring in Annabelle.  Between takes she wanted to see the photos.  She actually knew how to scroll through my camera!

Yesterday, I revealed two of the images from her session, she immediately fell in love with them and is even considering hanging them.  Whether she will or not, we will have to see.  However, I know she will frequently look back at these and smile.  Boutique photography is not something that can truly be appreciated until you have experienced it for yourself.  These are not contrived poses on a backdrop, these are memories to be cherished and an artistic vision realized.

Congratulations Heather & Micheal!

Brittany & Joey's Engagement Session

I met up with Brittany and Joey at Friday's creek winery in Calvert County Maryland.  We went over the details of their August wedding before heading outdoors into the sweltering heat to shoot their engagement session.  We found some shady spots and got to work.

It was clear how in-love they are.  Their kisses were not without sincerity or passion.  and when they looked into each other's eyes you could feel the connection.

There is no pretending, I love you and I will love you until I die, and if there is life after that , I’ll love you then

Couture Vintage Dresses Meet a Local Florist and Winery

I met the owner of Country Chic Couture at a Bridal show in March.  Into my booth walks this gorgeous red-head in this amazing gown (that I immediately started drooling over).  I struck up a conversation with the lovely model (Cheyenne ) about the dress.  She walked me over to their booth, where I was introduced to Sheri Autry, the owner and designer of-honestly, the most beautiful vintage styled dresses I have ever seen.  Each one looked like it belonged in a magazine or a movie set.

She told me how she deconstructed vintage pieces and creates these one-of-a-kind couture gowns.  Each one is meticulously created by hand, right down to the placement of each swarovski crystal.  I was in love and envisioned creating a beautiful vintage shoot borrowing her dresses in a local vineyard.

As soon as I got back I called the most amazing florist I knew Jennifer Sutcher with Blushing Blooms Floral Design and asked her to create something to compliment our vintage vineyard theme.
